Why Print Photos

It Means More When It’s Printed

I have a real soft spot for all things photography, but honestly, printed photos hold a special place in my heart. Whether it’s an artistic landscape or a family photo, there’s something so much more powerful about seeing those images in print or up on the wall.

Now, don’t get me wrong—seeing a beautiful photo on your phone, tablet, or computer can be amazing.  But I’ve noticed that a lot of my fondest childhood memories come from those old printed photos my parents had. They were either lying around the house or proudly displayed in frames.

Seeing Is Believing

You know, the car Mum used to drive, my favourite dress, my first day of school, that epic party, or our adorable pets—those images are etched in my memory because of the printed photos. I’ll go as far as saying that some memories only exist in our minds because of the photo.

Of course there’s the other memories that we remember for the feelings they evoke – and thankfully some of those there are no photographic evidence of!!

Memories You Can Reach Out and Touch

Every year, I make a photo book for my kids with all our favourite memories from the past year. It’s so much more meaningful for them to have these little treasures to look back on, rather than just having a bunch of digital pics on a hard drive somewhere.

Time flies, and your little ones can go from newborns to pre-teens in what feels like a heartbeat. Having those photos up on the wall or in a book helps you remember to appreciate each moment and see how much you’ve all grown together. Plus, on those rough days, a glance at a framed memory can be just what you need to lift your spirits and remind you of what you’ve got to be grateful for.

“Mum remember when we went to the beach and Pamela took our photo? I want to go back there again!”

The Circle of Life

At my parents’ place in Muriwai, they’ve got massive photo montages on the walls. And let me tell you, these photos never fail to captivate each new generation of our family. “Wow, look how young you look there, Mum!” “I didn’t know Nani had been to Paris!” “There’s Dad!”— the kids love seeing these images and hearing the stories behind them.

That’s why I’m all about printed photos. They make us laugh, cry, and feel all the feels —they get us talking and reminiscing. They remind us, make us laugh and cry, and help us cherish every moment.

When you do a family session with me I will print those photos for you and even come and hang it on the wall for you.  I want to help you share your precious memories with your family, just like I do with mine.

The moral of the story
